04.29.26 Carter School Hiking Volunteers (9am-1pm)

If you have not registered in Jumbula before, please first create an account using our Volunteer Sign Ups 2026 page and then register for this program.

This program is in collaboration with the Carter School, a Boston Public School for students with multiple and complex disabilities. Most students will use off-road wheelchairs, and volunteers may be asked to assist with pushing chairs based on their experience/comfort level. We will have time prior to participant arrival to demo and practice with the wheelchairs as needed!

Location:1904 Canton Ave Milton, MA 02186. If using Google Maps, typing in "1786-1798 Parking Canton MA" also works or using the GPS coordinates of 42.21990742456126, -71.11863170076235). This is the parking lot with the bathroom

Conditions: Paved path or compact dirt with hills at times. Terrain alternates between hills and flat. Rocks and roots to navigate and beginning and end of hike is on a hill on pavement.

Bathrooms: There are bathrooms at this location. The main bathrooms are not accessible, but we can make sure the one that is accessible is open if given notice.

What to bring:

• Comfortable sneakers or hiking boots
• Water bottle
• Snack and lunch if staying for both sessions
• Extra layer or raincoat in case it gets cold and/or rains
• Small backpack or bag to carry your things
• Sunglasses or hat
