A Waypoint Adventure Cycling Recon Ride

Start/End Location: Madbush Falls Riders Outpost, Waitsfield, VT

About:  We’re coming together to adventure on one of the legendary Green Mountain Gaps. We are also planning on using this ride to evaluate the terrain, logistics, and support systems needed to make a Vermont Gap Ride part of Waypoint’s long-term programming.

This ride and route was inspired by Waypoint Adventure board member Pete Quinn who has been cooking up plans to do a gap ride and invited us to join him.

What to Expect

• Route: We’ll be riding the Warren Halfpipe Loop, a 17.5-mile gravel-and-pavement route featuring 2,440 feet of climbing. This ride includes technical climbs, thrilling descents, and some of the most iconic views in the Mad River Valley

• Start/End Base: Madbush Falls Riders Outpost—our HQ for the day and potential overnight spot.

• Dinner: Stick around after the ride for beverages and dinner at the Madbush Falls Rider Outpost

Additional Details

• Gear: Bring your own bike and helmet. This ride includes mixed terrain—gravel or knobby tires recommended. 
• Food: Pack your own ride snacks, lunch and hydration.
• Support: Limited van support will be available for safety and logistics, but riders must be prepared to handle most mechanical and physical needs independently on route. 
• Weather: Ride is rain or shine (barring severe weather alerts).

Lodging Options

• Madbush Falls: Call ahead to inquire about room availability, including ADA-accessible options.
• Home Stay: A nearby board member and trip participant has generously opened their home—limited space available. 
• Local Camping and other lodges in the area.
