The Waypoint Outdoor Kayaking program will give you access to some of New England's most beautiful lakes, rivers, and coastline. Enjoy the fun and serenity of the water all while being part of a supportive community. Benefit from the wide array of adaptive kayaking equipment and instruction designed to meet your individual needs. Our highly trained staff will instruct, support, and encourage you as you learn new skills or further develop your existing ones. Location/Directions: The address for Constitution Beach is 799 Bennington St in East Boston. This location is MBTA accessible via the Blue Line (Orient Heights T Stop) and 120 Bus Route (Closest stop: Bennington and Trident). If taking the T, it is approximately a 5 minute walk from Orient Heights Station to the beach parking lot on Barnes Avenue. If driving, there is a parking lot. See map in the pictures on the side of this page and look for green Waypoint signs to direct you to our exact location.
Parking will be limited as the beach gets very busy on weekends. If possible, we strongly encourage you to consider taking public transportation or getting dropped off on this date.
Conditions: Constitution Beach in East Boston is on the ocean. We will mostly stay in the sheltered bay area by the airport and may venture out towards Belle Isle Marsh depending on conditions. Water may be choppy depending on the winds. We may experience boat traffic from some sailboats and motor boats and will need to avoid swimmers near the beach area. The launch area is a sandy beach with about a ~100 ft distance down to the water depending on the tides. We will have chariot wheels for the kayak available and there is also a mobi mat that goes partially down the beach for accessibility.
Bathrooms: There will be an accessible porta potty and flush toilets available.
