The Waypoint Outdoor Kayaking program will give you access to some of New England's most beautiful lakes, rivers, and coastline. Our highly trained staff will instruct, support, and encourage you as you learn new skills or further develop your existing ones. Location/Directions: The best way to find the boat launch is to type "Magazine Beach Cartop Launch" into Google Maps (we cannot attest if this works for any other navigation app). While on Memorial Drive going east (towards Boston), stay to the right as if you were exiting to get onto the BU Bridge. The right turn into the parking lot is on the off ramp before the rotary. For public transportation, the closest bus is the 47; however, the green line stops across the bridge at Boston University West and is a 1/2 mile walk from that stop to the kayak site. Coordinates are 42.354739, -71.112092.
Conditions: We
will be paddling on the lower basin of the Charles River near Boston
Harbor. It can be choppy waters with minor waves and some boat traffic
such as rowers and small sailboats. You'll need to be able to stay to
the side and follow steering directions mostly independently.
Bathrooms: There are no bathrooms at this site.
